The
largest fresh water in Peninsular Malaysia, Tasik Bera
remains both a unique and remote wetland wilderness. Rich
in wild life and vegetation, it is an eco-system that
supports not only diversity of animal and plant life, but
sustains the livelihood of the Semelai, the aboriginal
people inhibiting the wetlands.
It is protected under an international treaty - the RAMSAR
CONVENTION in November 1994 for its important in flood
control and water flow regulation and purification.

The
wet months of Tasik Bera is April to May and June to August.
According to the local aboriginal community, the Semelai, good
fishing is after heavy rains.

There is only one resort in Tasik Bera but visitors are permitted to camp on the north end of the lake at Sudin's Jetty, as well as the grounds near the resort.

By
Road : Bera is accessible by road. Alternatively, visitors can also take the train from both Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, which stops at Triang and Mentakab respectively. From there, taxis are available to the Bera jetty. There are no local car rental facilities; they must therefore be hired in Kuala Lumpur or Kuantan.
