Immortalized as the mythical island of Bali Hai in the 1950's Hollywood musical, "South Pacific", Pulau Tioman is simply superb. An enduring and tranquil island, Tioman Island boasts miles of white sandy beaches and palm trees, mountainous jungle, charming villages and friendly people. Its crystal clear waters promise spectacular marine life and colourful coral gardens.

The striking profile of the twin peaks of Gunung Semukut provide a remarkable landmark on this beautiful island which is reputed to be one of the most beautiful and idyllic islands in the world.

Tioman Island is a fantastic water sports haven. Here you can indulge in scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, catamaran-sailing, canoeing, water-skiing and wind surfing, as well as fishing. It is truly a wonderful playground for lovers of these sports. Another attraction is, of course, a ride in a glass-bottomed boat around the island. This is a unique fascination which allows you the pleasure and opportunity of approaching Tioman Island's rich underwater life without getting wet.

The waters around Tioman Island are fortunate to have been endowed with a vast marine treasure trove of prolific coral gardens, abundant seashells and limpets, thorny sea urchins, colourful seaweeds and anemones, starfish and a myriad of aquatic fish. The waters around the island are declared a Marine Park by the Government and people are reminded not to remove or destroy any of the fragile marine life.

Jungle trekking is also a popular pastime, the most popular walk being the cross-island trek from Tekek to Juara. You can also walk along much of the west coast.
